This painting represents Don Quixote and his pursuit of fantasy, replacing the Windmills with a figure of a lady named Lenore. Quixote’s profile can be found in the center left, which faces away from her, designating his failure. Quixote with lance, in abstract, can also be seen at the base of the figure.
Chasing ladies perhaps is as challenging as chasing windmills…
